Can I pick up my order?
Yes, by order only (no walk-ins). Place your order online or by phone first. Pickup orders are usually ready the same day during pickup hours (Monday–Thursday, 9:30am–3:30pm). Weekend pickup depends on availability, so please call (737) 217-9241 to ask. Otherwise, orders are ready during business hours the next business day.

Yes. We deliver anywhere within 15–20 miles of our shop in Manchaca, TX. Please call (737) 217-9241 to arrange delivery. Delivery is free to Manchaca, Buda and the 78652 ZIP code, and $8–$15 to Kyle and elsewhere in Austin depending on distance and urgency.
Do you ship?
Yes, for most products. Products marked “Pickup & local delivery only” on their page — many of our herbs, powders, teas, culinary spices and salts, plus Paw Paw seedlings — do not ship. Those are pickup only at 505 Bear Canyon Dr, Manchaca, TX, or local delivery within 15–20 miles of Manchaca (call (737) 217-9241 to arrange delivery). Products that ship go out within 1–2 business days, and orders over $100 ship free in the continental U.S. (shipping method chosen by our staff). Seeds ship to all 50 states. Live plants and cuttings ship to the lower 48 states and Washington, DC only (not Alaska or Hawaii), at their own rates listed on each plant's page; free shipping offers don't apply to them.
What is your return policy?
Everything is covered by our 100% money-back guarantee. If a product is defective when you open it, or a sealed item arrives damaged in the mail, email gardenoftheancientshemporium@gmail.com within 48 hours of delivery with photos and we'll replace it or refund you. Who runs GARDENS OF THE ANCIENTS®?
We're a family business, founded in 2000 by David Schanzle and rooted in Central Texas for more than two decades. Today the business is owned by his son, Nathaniel Schanzle. Everything is made and packed by hand in small batches.

Have your products been evaluated by the FDA?
No. Our herbs, powders and teas are sold as cottage food, and our aromatic and topical products (essential oils, salves, balms, clays and skin-care herbs) are sold for cosmetic and aromatic use only. Our products have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

Yes. GARDENS OF THE ANCIENTS® in Manchaca is the closest full herb shop to Buda and Kyle, about a 10-minute drive up FM 1626 or I-35. We carry bulk dried herbs, herbal powders, loose-leaf teas, culinary spices and gourmet salts, handmade salves and balms, essential oils, resins, incense, heirloom seeds and live plants. There's no walk-in shopping; order online or by phone for delivery (free to Buda), scheduled pickup in Manchaca, or shipping.
Are your salves and balms made locally?
Yes. Every salve and balm is made by hand in small batches at our shop in Manchaca, Texas, the way we've done it since 2000. Our best sellers are our Green Salve and Grandma's Hyssop Salve.
Do you sell live plants and seeds in the Austin area?
Yes. We're also a small nursery. We sell heirloom, non-GMO seeds year-round and seasonal live plants and cuttings such as Goumi berry, available for pickup in Manchaca or local delivery around Austin, Buda and Kyle. Plants and cuttings are limited to 5 per order.
